FLIR Announces DroneSense-FLIR Edition Drone Flight Management Software

FLIR announced the new DroneSense-FLIR Edition this week at Firehouse Expo 2018 in Nashville, Tennessee. This drone flight management software platform, designed for public safety applications, is the first collaborative product to result from a recent strategic investment in DroneSense. FLIR invested in the Austin, Texas-based unmanned aircraft system (UAS) software developer in April 2018.  DroneSense-FLIR Edition is the only software platform to combine thermal and visual imaging processing with flight data planning and management capabilities, with the goal of improving incident and routine non-emergency response management for public safety organizations.

DroneSense-FLIR Edition streams FLIR thermal sensor information directly into the software, making it a single-source, fully-integrated software platform for drones used in firefighting, flood response, search and rescue operations, disaster damage assessment, and more. It includes features such as autonomous flight control, live video streaming (on-scene and off-site), and asset and compliance management. The platform is hosted on a secure government cloud server and enables real-time data interpretation for a variety of drones and use-cases. The DroneSense-FLIR Edition supports the DJI Zenmuse XT2 and any DJI drone-based thermal payloads offering Thermal by FLIRĀ® with feature functionality including visual, thermal, picture-in-picture, and side-by-side imagery, as well as a robust telemetry feature set.

As drones are a crucial tool across the incident and routine non-emergency response industries, the addition of FLIR thermal sensor data into DroneSense software provides a powerful asset to first responders. Through their partnership with DroneSense, FLIR plans to deliver more collaborative software to help improve incident response management.

FLIR and DroneSense will demonstrate the DroneSense-FLIR Edition at Firehouse Expo 2018 from October 16-20 in Nashville, Tenn., at the FLIR booth #1224. The software will be available for purchase through FLIR authorized distributors beginning October 18. For more information, please visit FLIR.com/DroneSense.
