What does 'splash screen' mean?

In the case of FLIR's OEM thermal camera products, a splash screen means the video overlay used when power is applied to a Tau2 or Quark2, and the camera starts operating. The splash screen typically last between one and three seconds, and may contain the FLIR logo and/or product information.

Customers that purchase OEM products in volume can arrange to provide a bitmap file that can be used generate a custom logo, a form of private-labeling.
